Is It Safe For My Child To See The Dentist During COVID-19? How We’re Protecting Your Kids

Wondering if it’s safe for your child to visit Dr. Julie Hantson and get preventive dental care in Marshfield during the COVID-19 outbreak? At our office, we’re doing everything that we can to ensure a safe visit for you and your little ones. Read on, and get more details about the precautions and steps we’re taking to minimize the risk of spreading COVID-19 and other infectious viruses at Marshfield Pediatric Dentistry.

Pre-Appointment Patient Screenings

First and foremost, we will be conducting patient screenings with questionnaires about recent travel, exposure to people who may have been exposed to COVID-19, and to inquire about potential symptoms you or your child may have experienced, such as a dry cough, shortness of breath, or a fever.

Patients who have traveled in high-risk areas or may show signs of infection will not be treated, and will be asked to reschedule their appointment for a date that’s at least 14 days in the future.

Hand Washing & Hand Sanitizer Stations

Our staff members are following all CDC, ADA, and OSHA best practices and guidelines for handwashing and glove changing to minimize the risk of cross-contamination between patients and families.

In addition, we have handwashing stations for patients who wish to clean their hands, as well as hand sanitizer that can be used by patients and their families at any time.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Our staff members will all be wearing PPE including masks and glasses, as well as face shields when available. When treating patients, all used PPE will be discarded or properly stored for disinfection in the future, ensuring that there is no cross-contamination between operatories and patients.

Social Distancing & Limiting Number Of Families In Our Office

Maintaining a proper distance between individuals is absolutely essential for minimizing the spread of infectious diseases, so we are seeing only one family at a time at our office whenever possible, and sanitizing common areas between each appointment.

Additional Sanitization Protocols For Our Office

We have removed all toys and magazines from the waiting area to reduce the risk of children and adults spreading infectious viruses, and are wiping down all common surfaces (counters, bathrooms, seating, doorknobs) frequently throughout the day to ensure that we destroy any infectious bacteria or viruses that may be present on these surfaces.
